In località La Canonica.

In località Ghiaccioforte.
In places Ghiaccioforte. The first major discovery worthy of mention is that excavations dating back to 1981, by which was found a “furnace”, a circular cavity covered with a huge rectangular slab of travertine. From the inside of the material was extracted from the analysis of which were muddy tracks of ash, charcoal and other burnt material, whose presence has made a habit of assuming that the population at a regular and continuous use of fire. After these preliminary examinations, archaeologists have conceived the idea that this cavity was used as a furnace, probably used to forge weapons and create other tools. The complex of the materials found, as well as being of considerable wealth, allows a very detailed classification of objects that can be divided into two broad categories: those made of metal and ceramic material. The objects in the category of metals are further divided into: iron (for the most part) and bronze, but absent of precious metals. These objects have been found in it as weapons, tools and jewelry, among the weapons, only iron, we must remember above all the various tips of spears, javelins, axes and swords. Of particular importance was the discovery, during the first excavation of a beautiful sword with scabbard, which can be viewed at the Archaeological Museum. As for tools, manufactured in both bronze and iron, we can now see various types of buttons, nails of various sizes and for different uses (hooks for hanging objects support), “spit”, grabs by forger, “roast” in iron rims of wheels, bells, and iron, very interesting, even the finding of a “LAMINETTE” in bronze, probably used for the processing of yarn. Far more numerous are the iron tools that, unfortunately, given the nature of the material, are now almost completely oxidized, and not in good storage conditions and difficult to interpret. Finally, with regard jewelry, bronze, are interesting examples of: pins, brooches, earrings and rings are very common in that period. A list of exhibits is as rich on the ceramic materials, among which we must remember the vessels for domestic use, various other dishes, and jugs of various shapes and sizes, crockery, cups, bowls, vases, jars (containers without handles that were used for cooking or, in older populations, to keep the ashes of a deceased person), all in large quantities.

In località Mosciano.
In Mosciano. Perhaps of Lombard foundation, the church was located near an ancient castle Cadolingi. As early as 1054 that the church had its head office at a regular chapter of monks, a chapter which in that year he obtained the privileges of the bishop of Florence, Gherardo. Following Bishop Gerard became pope under the name of Nicholas II and in that capacity he visited the church January 18, 1059. On that occasion, after having dedicated two altars in the church was a document signed between the pope and then John Prior confirming the goods of the church placed in the parishes of Brozzi, Seventh and Giogoli and also there were doubts church under the direct protection of the Apostolic See. On March 30, 1170 Bishop Julius confirmed the church patronage of the church Sollicciano. At that time the rectory was observed the Augustinian rule, that rule was confirmed in several bubbles including that of Pope Alexander III in 1170 and that of Pope Lucius III dated 31 July 1184 that gave the church the right to burial, and the ‘ exemption from episcopal jurisdiction. The church of Sant’Andrea in Mosciano enjoyed within the diocese of Florence to so great authority that the March 12, 1234 was annexed to the church of San Giorgio alla Costa and was once again confirmed the right of burial, that privilege was reserved only to the churches. The community of Moscow was as rich as shown by the taxes paid at the end of the thirteenth century, which amounted to 31 pounds. In the next century, things changed for the worse. It appears that 1302 was a mortgage, the first hint of decadence. Decline that led to the loss of property of the church of St. George to Costa in 1417, the annexation of Moscow Monastery of San Donato a Scopeto in 1436 and finally in 1455 the priory was suppressed. With the transition to the Monastery of Scopeto the canons of the church joined the order of Scopetino. The order of Scopetino was abolished August 30, 1703, and later the church of Sant’Andrea was granted to Vincentian missionaries of the Church of San Jacopo Soprarno. During their tenure the rectory was rebuilt from the ground up. In 1763 also the Vincentian order was suppressed and the Church of St. Andrew was raised in the parish. To adapt to the new status were undertaken many jobs. In front was open the window, the ceiling was covered in time and between the presbytery and the congregation was made a serliana. Other restorations were made in 1815. The church was damaged by the earthquake of May 18, 1895, to suffer the most damage was the steeple which was broken the spire of the church while the building remained intact. The church took its present appearance after the restoration carried out between 1932 and 1933 when under the guidance of Zumkeller stonacate walls were saved and then discovered the frescoes. The frescoes were detached in 1965 and were kept inside the church hall.

Of the great seventeenth-century works are the transformation (1629) left in the chapel of the apse of San Quentin, the big stone altars and the altar (1639), a fine example of art made in semi-precious stones. Among the speeches is the transformation of the Baroque era (1663) division between the aisles with large rectangular pillars. The Abbey was badly damaged during the war.
