Attrazione turistica.
Tourist attraction. The suspension bridge, in Lower Mammiano between the municipality of San Marcello Pistoiese, and the City of Piteglio, is a pedestrian walkway that connects the two sides of the river Lima. It is made structures and supported by four steel cables held in tension, measuring 227 meters long, 36 meters in height sull’alveo the river and 1.3 meters wide. Since 1990 he has entered the Guinness Book of World Records that lists him as “the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world.” Opened in June 1923, was built following the idea of Vincenzo Scotti Douglas, Count of San Giorgio della Scala, director of the Lower Mill Mammiano Italian Metallurgical Society. It would serve to allow the passage of workers who had to bear from Popiglio to work in factories located on the opposite side: without such a structure, in fact, the workers would have to walk about 6 kilometers to reach the workplace. To carry out the work, Count Vincenzo Scotti Douglas instructed the foreman Filiberto Ducci, who had the responsibility for carrying out work for the mechanical part, while the building work and support were handled by Vannucci Cesare, head of the masons. Work began in 1920 with the help of about thirty workers, who anchored the cables. At this point it was possible to build a pedestrian bridge, made of planks and wire mesh hinged to the supporting structure, which connected the two opposite banks of the river Lima with no intermediate support. The work, which has lost its original function, has undergone over the years, major maintenance and consolidation. Recent, dating back to 2004, allowed to secure the bridge and make it more stable and durable through the complete replacement of cables, slings side of the walkways and guards, with more durable and lightweight material. The suspension bridge, which has helped improve road conditions in the valley, is now a major tourist attraction for the whole mountain Pistoiese.

In the village of San Bavello. The church, which popular tradition built by the Countess Matilda, is mentioned for the first time in a papal bull in 1103, under which it confirmed its belonging to the diocese of Fiesole. After the earthquake of June 1919, which had almost totally demolished, it was rebuilt in its current form, between 1920 and 1924. The church has a façade, dominated by a canopy bearing the effigy of San Babila, with only one entrance gate topped by a roof. Place under the canopy is an image of the Madonna between two angels. The interior is divided into one large apsidal hall that replaced the original medieval structure with three naves. The altar and baptismal font are made of stone. Reported two side altars are painted on crimson: a worker with the San Jose boy and a Virgin and Child. Beside the main altar, also is a painting depicting San Babila, while behind the same altar is a crucifix. The small bell tower leaned to the left flank still dealing with the primitive Romanesque pedestal. The new structure, though, is different from the original one: if the belfry was beginning to sail on two levels and housed three bells, is now square instead.
In località Castagno d’Andrea.
In places Castagno d’Andrea. The original church was built at San Martino near the ancient cemetery. In 1840 it was moved and built the site on which now stands. Completely destroyed during World War II, was rebuilt faithfully following the earlier nineteenth-century project. The building has a sloping front preceded by a loggia with three arches. The interior has a nave with two side altars. In the apse is a fresco depicting the crucified Jesus, Mary and St. John performed between 1957 and 1968 by Pietro Annigoni. Next to the entrance on the left, it also draws attention to the baptismal font made of stone.
In 1028 the Bishop Jacopo Bavaro fiesolano founded a Benedictine monastery near the church. The church was rebuilt and re-consecrated in 1070 by Bishop Tresmondo. The June 8, 1302 the abbey was home to the famous meeting between exiled Florentines and Ghibellines Guelphs white, represented among others by Dante Alighieri, which aimed to reach agreement with the family Ubaldini to gain access to Florence, then domain of Guelph blacks. The conference, however, he came to the desired result: in a short time a new conflict broke out between blacks and whites Guelph which marked the victory of the latter. Subsequently, the church experienced a decline due to the rearrangement of the Benedictine order, until, in 1482, was absorbed by the Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata of Florence, who established a community served. The latter remained in the church until 1808, when the order was suppressed by Napoleon.
The abbey is set to three aisles divided by pillars, with a presbytery strongly raised on a vast crypt, articulated with columns decorated with simple cubic capitals. In 1944, after that in 1922 the church was restored as an abbey, the Germans razed the country was on the Gothic Line but spared the church and monastery in consideration of the origin of the Bavarian bishop James. Among the works of art reminiscent of the altarpiece with Madonna and Four Saints attributed to Bernardo Daddi (1333), referring to the Annunciation Franciabigio century, the wooden statue of St. Sebastian by Baccio da Montelupo (1506).
In località Ripafratta.

In the years 1162-1164, the existing fort was enlarged and turned into a veritable fortress castle, which was given the name of Rocca di San Paolino, probably in honor of the patron saint of Lucca. This period also further concentric walls that protected the small village close to the castle, the ancient nucleus of today’s Ripafratta. This walls, visible today only ruins remain.
