It was rebuilt in 1239 and was the staircase was added in 1263. Back in 1460 it was extended to a design by Giuliano da Majano, which lengthened the cociera and the presbytery and design the new chapel of Santa Fina and Conception. The façade overlooking the square is the Romanesque period, dating from the thirteenth century accommodation. Simply rake, has two portals on either side and three circular windows. The interior has three naves divided by columns reminiscent of the churches of the Casentino, with fourteenth-century vaults. The church is decorated by important cycles of paintings that cover all the walls, a cycle that dates back several centuries but very rare in its entirety.

Built in 1356 by the Florentine Republic. I’m still standing except those along the Avenue Corsini.Delle four-door remains today, albeit reconstructed after the Second World War, Porta del Prato, known as the harbor; the others were demolished between the eighteenth and nineteenth century and today it remains only a tower of Porta Senese. The surviving tower of the Porta Senese side is better preserved along the Market Square where the 90’s on the wall is exhibited work by Mario Merz.

The church stands on the top of the hill is a watershed between the valleys of the Greve and Pesa. Since Roman times there intersected the Roman Royal Road which leads from Florence to Siena and then to Rome, and the path that led from the plain of the Arno in Tuscany or to Volterra. The ancient church dedicated to St Cassian of Imola was dependent on the nearby church of Santa Cecilia a Decimo and went back to the XII century in Romanesque style and was probably a single nave. Its history is linked to that of San Casciano. This grew more than the Church of increased legal significance. In 1487 he was elevated to the Rectory and detached from the Parish of Tenth and again in 1686, with funds Lucardesi family, she was awarded the title of collegiate, the only one with Empoli in the south of the province of Florence. At the end of the eighteenth century, however, the church was so dilapidated that the Chapter of Canons decided to rebuild. Work began in 1793 and was the style in vogue at the moment: Neoclassicism. The designer Pozzolini Lorenzo, Florence, had distinguished himself primarily as a manufacturer of theaters such as that of Anghiari and to Fucecchio. The available space was little so he decided to destroy the oratory of the Santissima Annunziata, which stood to the left of the Church. Because of the enormous costs it was possible that the Bell was one of the previous construction, small and disproportionate. The Belfry in 1895 was severely damaged by the earthquake and until 1997 remained tied with girders and chains to ensure that the static. Was completely restored in 1997, raised a few feet and made appropriate to the Collegiate.

È già citata in documenti notarili risalenti al X e all’XI secolo.
It stands on the hill that separates the valleys of the Pesa and Virginio its tributary. It is cited in legal documents dating from the tenth and eleventh century. I speak of those documents is a sale of land in his parish by the monastery of Passignano. In the parish there lived a community of canons within which it was proposed that the elected was also the lord of the castle that had formed around the parish church. Inside the castle had their property even nobles Catignano and in 1126 one of them, from Zabollina Catignano, gave it to the bishop of Florence. Due to the interference of the Monastery of Passignano on June 28, 1217 is a contest between the two judicial bodies. The monastery of Passignano was certainly concerned that the substantial assets of the parish between 1274 and 1280 is taxed in the tenth for 40 pounds. The contest lasted until November 19, 1301 when the parish priest of Buondelmonti Jacopo, at the time patrons of the church, I find an agreement with the abbot of Passignano who was his uncle. In the fifteenth century the Society was formed at that time of the Annunciation and the church was extensively remodeled. The Chapel of St. John was built in 1563 by the family of Pugliese while between 1585 and 1596 were built the parsonage, the portal on the facade and was built within the balustrade and the main altar by the priest Nicholas Formosa whose family had replaced the Buondelmonti as patrons of the church. In the early twentieth century the church was restored again and at that time the operations were heavy. The work directed by the architect Pietro Berti cover the facade was restored, a new roof was rebuilt and the roof was opened inside a fake gallery.
