The church, dating between the second half of the thirteenth and early fourteenth century, is a single nave covered hut, with a slightly projecting transept and a polygonal apse, covered with a cross and flanked by two chapels. The two-tone masonry of the facade is rather unusual in a Franciscan church. The apse is opened by a lancet window with pointed arches of bill similar to those of the sides. There are numerous frescoes discovered and restored. Among the earliest fourteenth century that depicts the Triumph of Death, attributed to Bartolo di Fredi. On the left wall of the transept is a large fresco of the Sienese school with three scenes in three overlapping bands (Stigmata of St. Francis, Madonna Enthroned with Saints Christopher and George, Epiphany.)

Porta di San Giusto, the main entrance to the old town of Lucignano Lucignano The architectural aspect of it is very unusual, especially for the significant difference between the buildings on both sides of the center. Entering it from Porta San Giusto, distributed two ways: via Roma, which goes to the left via Matteotti and instead turn to the right. The first is traditionally known as “poor way” since ancient times there lived the most humble families, and is characterized by the presence of buildings of medieval times by the small size.
The Tower, one of the few remaining in the city, is one of the most representative monuments of Lucca. Its main feature is the presence of some oaks on top of it. At the beginning of 300, within the city walls of the much closer, Lucca was proud of the large number of towers and steeples. The Guinigi, now masters of the city wanted to refine their strict tree-lined mansion with a tower, which became a symbol of rebirth, on top of the image of their worship. By the will of the last descendant of the family, the tower shaft and the palace in Via Sant’Andrea went to the city of Lucca.

Built on the ruins of the ancient Roman amphitheater (the second century AD), which determined the elliptical closed. The square was born in the Middle Ages and in this era was called “Parlascio”, a corruption of Latin paralisium (“amphitheater”), that the influence of the word “talk”, it was said that indicated the place where meetings were held with citizens. It was gradually filled with buildings, variously used as storage rooms, powder magazine, prison. Only in the nineteenth century by the architect Lorenzo Nottolini Lucca, it was decided a revival of the ancient urban structure. He was then released from the space of the small buildings that were crowded and there was opened the “way of the amphitheater” that traces out the elliptical profile. The new urban space was used for the city market. To date, the plan of the square is raised about 3 feet from the Roman arena. They open on the square and many shops inside some of them are still visible structures of the republican era. Access is possible through the square after 4-port, but only one of these, the lowest, follows exactly one of the original hits.

Of this building is preserved the site plan and part of the apparatus wall in front and south side, to a height of about two meters, while the remainder of the structure shows signs of rebuilding in the nineteenth century style neo-medieval . In the lintels of the door right in front and one on the side is evident the hand of Biduino (second half of the twelfth century), both bearing the bas-reliefs issues related to the cult of St. Nicholas. The interior has three aisles by pillars with a presbytery-ended straight, is in appearance after the restoration took place under the Bourbons, the Napoleonic suppression of 1808 had in fact produced devastating effects.

A typical example of the architecture of Pisa-Lucca. Founded in 777, a larger building replaced the original settlement in the twelfth century, then modified in the sixteenth century. The medieval church (of which part of the perimeter of the wall of the apse) was raised, the roof trusses to be replaced once, was prefixed to a front porch and was also renovated the interior trim. It should be noted Zacchia two paintings of the Old School (San Gregorio Magno between St. Joseph, Luke, Sebastian and Rocco, and San Frediano between St. Anthony Abbot and Barbara). A painting of Alexander Ember (the Nativity) hides a fresco of the Madonna Enthroned with Two Angels, from the late fourteenth century. There is a replica of it on the table at the beginning of the sixteenth century.

The current building, built on a precedent from the second half of the twelfth century. A three naves with an apse, in front has a decor that sees the rising two-tone at the top: thick white bands begin just above the main entrance and continue in the hard wall of the nave, where we have superimposed loggias. The central portal is one of the most significant Guidetto shop, both for the quality of, and for some decorative details, such as telamons twist that support the two lions on either side of protruding bezel and two masks of classical structure. In the seventeenth century the interior was completely renovated in the baroque language.
