A fine luglio si svolge la sagra della trota.borghitavernelle.licciananardiVarano and in the following locations: Panicale: E ‘of very ancient origin and early history goes back to Oberteghi, the noble family descended from which then the Malaspina. Only the tower remains of the ancient castle, which now acts as the bell tower, located in a visual match with the towers of Hazel. In place of Taponecco Horse was discovered in 1975 a male statue stele. His head is detached from the neck to the face and stood along the U. The weapon is a dagger in contested triangular blade. Tavernelle: Located along the road that leads to Licciana Nardi Lagastrello Pass, on the right side of the river Taverone, at the foot of Mount Poret. The village is very picturesque, with its sandstone portals, and windows and galleries. The name probably derives from the fact that housed many taverns, being situated along the ancient route of the Salt and Linari. The church of San Rocco dating back to 1500, was built by the family Antonetti, originally as a chapel, that only after World War II was declared a parish. Tavernelle winds along a single street lined by buildings mostly fifteenth. Stands a tower house built in 1516, which bears the engraving of the manufacturer and entered the date, that Alfonso Saffi. MURA CASTELLANECASTLE WALLS

Proprio nella casa Cassi si può notare meglio la struttura delle mura essendo rimasta come in origine.MURACASTELLANE.LATERINAThe walls surrounding the town of Castiglion Fibocchi arise after 1400, because, first, the country was only a watch tower between the Valdarno and the Casentino and as such did not need a wall to defend the town. After 1400, having been demolished in the guard tower, the castle was reduced to the villa and only in 1441, as resolved later in the stone inscription above the door of the Cold troniera, the walls were built true that bordered the town citizen. These walls not only have defensive importance, delimiting the few domestic dwellings.
The wall was 385 meters long, with 7 towers located along the MDPE, the height of the wall was 14 feet, as you can still see some existing buildings (see home Cassi, Jacopo house, House of, etc..), With a thickness of 1 meter and that of the towers of 20 meters, topped by battlements and the other one style of Guelph, as you can see ancoroggi by the one remaining tower, Torre Cold. In the walls there were only two entrances, one on the west side, said cold door, and one at noon, called Porta del Sole in origin, and intornto 1700, Canonical door, because the parish priest of the house located where now insists the Town Hall with the clock tower. Of the ancient walls now no trace, as they were all scrapped or incorporate in a house, is as home Cassi, Jacopo, gods, etc.. Cassi in the house you can see better the structure of the walls being left as before.

SPEDALE DI SANT´ANTONIOHOSPITAL OF SANT’ ANTONIO

L’edificio, restaurato, ospita iniziative culturali.SPEDALESANT'ANTONIO.LASTRA7 arcade arches of 1411 attributed to Brunelleschi. Commissioned by the Florentine Arte della Seta in 1411, the hospital, for the simple elegance of its structure, has been previously reported to Filippo Brunelleschi, who around 1424 was a sheet to complete the city walls. Interestingly, the porch, which consists of seven arches on octagonal pillars to create a space for the sick and shelter the first stop before acceptance, not to clutter – or infect – the interiors. The building was renovated, hosts cultural events.

MURA FORTIFICATERAMPARTS

Come architetto militare non è documentato un suo contributo, mentre appare scontata  una sua “supervisione” dei lavori.MURAFORTIFICATE.LASTRAASIGNAIt seems to be excluded, as reported by various historians of the nineteenth and twentieth century, the walls have been erected in 1380, after a “provision” of 1367 authorized the work. Those jobs had no beginning. The construction of the walls, whose work will be contracted on several occasions, ending in 1426 under the direction of the Baptist D’Antonio, foreman of the Duomo of Florence. Between 1417 and 1421 does not appear on any of the Lordship “provision” in relation to this’ work of fortification. Since the “provision” were renewed every three years, probably until 1424, when it appeared last, work has been interrupted.
With regard to the involvement in the work of Filippo Brunelleschi, is certain his financial estimate on the work done in the terminal phase. As an architect is not documented as a military contribution, while it seems obvious his “supervision” of the work.

CHIESA DI SAN MARTINOCHURCH OF SAN MARTINO

Of Roman origin. The Romanesque church of not a few traces that remain in the walls near the bell tower. Dates back to the middle of the fourteenth century the large porch before the front where there was a large fresco of St. Christopher flavor popularizing representative, transferred after the separation within the church, the altar was in fact run by Simon Ghino in 1366. Fourteenth century is also the interior simple apsidal hall, which has traces of decoration in some pieces of frescoes depicting the life story of San Donnino.
Go back to the fifteenth century the works that characterize most of the church. The temple has in the vault of the Baptistery Evangelists and Doctors of the Church and Christ in Glory in the attic angel musicians, The Charity of St. Martin and the Annunciation. The frescoes, discovered in 1891, were carried out by BICC in collaboration with Lorenzo’s workshop: for such work in 1433 Bicci received in return “three pieces of land in Gangalandi plan.” The octagonal font in white marble is decorated with panels by Ghiberti derivation dated 1423: the bottom, above it, an interesting panel painting representing St. John the Baptist, attributed to Bernardo Daddi and dated 1436, comes from the Art Calimala. The focal point of greatest interest is the apse of the church, closed on top by a round arch decorated with candelabra and grounds with stone pilasters sorreggenti a lintel that bears an inscription in capital letters of gold, ornamented at both ends weapons of Alberti. The apse is mentioned “almost incept et perfecta” in the testament of Leon Battista Alberti, who was rector of St. Martin from 1432 to 1472. Completed after his death, between 1472 and 1478, is the only work of which Alberti was the designer and client.
The interior is marked by stone altars, erected by local families from the sixteenth century to the eighteenth century, where important paintings are venerated. The altars will replace the current oldest, were destroyed in the siege of the plate 1530. On the right wall of the Five Saints Peter Salvestrini, di Castello, the Madonna and Child with St. Lawrence and the Guardian Angel, attributed to Antonio del ceraioli, and finally, next to the sixteenth-century stone pulpit, the Assumption of the Virgin between St. Charles Borromeo, Bartholomew, Francis and Martin, works by Matteo Rosselli and dated 1615. On the left wall, after the choir in stone and the fresco of St. Christopher, on the altar erected by Flora Mechini are pieces of fourteenth century frescoes representing stories Donnino. Gangalandi is now placed on the altar of the Annunciation attributed to Domenico Passignano, coming from the oratory of the Santissima Annunziata, and on the same wall is the tombstone of Agnolo Pandolfini, commissioned in 1421. In the counter, Leonardo Cappiardi in 1734 he built the altar of St. Joseph, where he is venerated painting by Francesco Conti representing the Death of St. Joseph.

PIEVE SAN LEONARDOABBEY SAN LEONARDO

Particolarmente originale è la figura dell’uomo-televisione (simbolo della schiavità mentale alla TV degli uomini d’oggi) raffigurato nella stazione della Crocefissione.pievesanleonardo.lariThe church already exists in the tenth century (the worship of Leonardo Noblac spread in Italy at this time) and over the centuries it has undergone many transformations. The church was then renovated in the Baroque style and was probably then that disappeared cycles of frescoes that decorated it. The works date back to 1910 that gave the building a neo-Gothic, and later was placed on the left wall the remarkable glazed terracotta relief of the Madonna and Child by Giovanni della Robbia, who came from the chapel of the Castello dei Vicari. The church has now five-eighteenth-century paintings. Noteworthy is also the modern Via Crucis (Year 1970) proposed the brainchild of the Don Amedeo Deri after the recent restoration after the Second Vatican Council. Particularly original is the figure of the man-television (TV symbol of the mental slavery of people today) depicted in the station of the Crucifixion.

CASTELLOCASTLE
