With interesting karst phenomena. Inside the park you can walk into a cavity of the three – the Hole, or the Caves Tecchia. La Buca, studied since ancient natural cave 700 since 2004, has been open for a major stroke. It climbs to an opening to the terrace, overlooking the cracked wall of the mountain, where several species of nesting birds, including golden eagles, you proceed through a maze of halls, galleries, tunnels concretion with fossils. The Caves, a cavity accessible from the pit alive, adorned with stalactites, stalagmites and all forms of natural accretion. The Tecchia, have not yet visited, but documented in the Museum of Caves and soon joined by an interior walkway, is currently nearing completion, at Buca. The external path, steep and overhanging the river Let them is dangerous and therefore we do not recommend the journey. You can then follow the route of the Furrow fair, insectivorous plants with natural canyon that opens the Tana della Volpe, burial cave, the Grotto of Ferns and the Devil’s Hole (where you might place the worship of water).

Situated between the river and canal Mommio Collegnago, is a precious example of medieval architecture. The impressive fortifications overlooking the road that leads from Via di Magra crossing east of Lunigiana plain to the Reggio Emilia and Parma, where the resistance is known since 1044, a fortified residence, where the nobles had established the headquarters of the Bosi their domain. Traces of the primitive types are evident in the imposing central keep and in some parts of the city walls. Spinetta Malaspina the Great in 1300 it obtained the property and enlarged it by adding massive towers flanking tower next to the original and completing the perimeter walls. The collapse of the domain by Spinetta Castruccio Castracani Alteminelli the lord of Lucca, the earthquake of 1841 that impoverished the area and the gradual establishment of political and commercial center of Fivizzano Verrucola led to the slow decline of the ancient fortress lost this way each strategic value. In the fifteenth century the castle was built alongside the church of Santa Margherita characterized by the beautiful Renaissance loggia with arches in stone. The current structure of the castle retains its original superposition of three large rooms and of particular interest, from a structural standpoint, is the so-called ceiling of the armory on the ground floor, set on the massive central pillar of octagonal shape. The restoration, carried out by the current owner, the sculptor Pietro Cascella, allow the use of one of the most beautiful fortified complex of Lunigiana.

CHIESA DI CORNACCHIAIACHURCH OF CORNACCHIAIA

chiesaCornacchiaia.firenzuolaDi epoca carolinga.

Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, Machiavelli, the Oranges, Lorenzo the Magnificent … The building of the church has undergone over the years, renovations that have seen it heals from the infiltration of water, but not restored to pristine condition and today’s troubles can be seen especially in the apse … In 1897 Tito Casini was born in Cornacchiaia founder, with Nicholas Lisi, Giovanni Papini, Domenico Giuliotti, Bargellini Piero, Piero Paris Charles Betocchi and others, the Catholic magazine Florentine “The Title”.

In the first half of the fifteenth century, the property, described as “chase to host”, belonged to John and Lippaccio Brancacci. After a series of changes in ownership of the villa was bought in the first half of the nineteenth century, by Count Giuseppe Archinto. These commissioned Giuseppe Poggi to renovate the house and redesign the garden. Poggi, with the help of the gardener and botanist Attilio Pucci, turned it into a romantic park, identifying the long winding path to the distinctive design of the park. The work of earth movements lasted until 1856, then began to plant trees (limes, elms, horse chestnut and hackberry) creating views and perspectives by the contrast between the great masses of trees and large lawns. The death in 1861 prevented the Count Giuseppe Archinto to enjoy this creation of Poggi. Financial reasons forced Luigi Archinto then in 1862 to sell the villa to Aristide Caselli. In 1969 the villa and the garden were detected by the Italian State. The villa, with input from the path of scissors, was given at International University of Art still lives here. The garden, separate from the villa, and with input from the Via Aldini, is a landscaped park open to the public and managed by the Superintendence for Architectural Heritage and Landscape in Florence.

VILLA CAREGGIVILLA CAREGGI

VILLACAREGGI.FIRENZEBought from the Medici family in 1417, after the death of John the glass of the Medici villa was inherited by his son Cosimo the Elder commissioned Michelozzo to renovate. The intervention was very consistent and was centered courtyard gallery generator characterized by its trapezoid shape. A Michelozzo must also be the opening of the lodges on the upper floors, which made the building more open to the garden and surrounding landscape. After the death of Cosimo the Elder, which occurred right at Careggi in 1464, followed five years later by her son, was the grandson Lorenzo the Magnificent to become the head of the Medici family. Here, Lawrence met with his fellow members of the Platonic Academy and this is where I spend the last years of his life until 1492, the year of his death. The garden at the time of Lorenzo are some descriptions that speak of a vegetation composed of myrtle, olive trees, oaks, poplars, pines, plane trees, citrus, spices, myrrh and frankincense. This description is reminiscent of a garden divided into two parts, one planted with flowers and fruit, and another which was the wild. With the death of Lorenzo the Magnificent, a period of decadence of the villa interrupted by Cardinal Carlo that after 1615 he undertook a large project to transform the interior and the garden. Lorraine moved to the house after he succeeded in the Grand Duchy of the Medici, the property was sold in 1779 to Vincenzo Orsi. The Orsi family in 1848 sold it to the rich Englishman Francis Sloane, geologist and natural scientist. A Sloane was responsible for the actions of transformation of the garden with the creation of the park “romantic”, as used in many exotic tree species that still exist (the cedars of Lebanon and the Himalayas, the California redwoods, strawberry Greece, palms), and construction of an orangery where they were, a valuable collection of citrus fruits, and many varieties of palm trees. After the death of Sloane, the house changed ownership several times, until the final purchase by Arcispedale of Santa Maria Nuova in 1936.
