In Freedom Square is a triumphal arch erected in the eighteenth century by the architect Jean-Nicolas Jadot. He also worked for the architect and Schamant kit also chose decorative Florentine artists of the Academy, who created the statues of mythological gods. The arch, located at the access point north of the city just outside the Porta San Gallo wanted to celebrate the entry of Habsburg-Lorraine after the extinction of the Medici family. It was erected in 1737 during the so-called period of the regency (1733-1765), when the new Grand Duke Francis Stephen was awarded the grand duchy altogether against his will and went there 20 January 1739, but do not live there. When he became Emperor in Vienna, his secondogento Leopold inherited the crown of Tuscany, which took possession of it with dedication. The latter being an enlightened ruler of mold, such as not needed commemorative works.
The architecture of the arch is usually considered to be too flashy and rhetoric, with the Habsburg eagle that dominates the decorations, together with a series of bas-reliefs depicting the triumphs of the Habsburgs and bombastic inscriptions in Latin. For a curious accident of history, the Lorraine and made their entrance and their exit from the city more through the arch: April 27, 1859, the Florentines, supported by troops, rose up against the Grand Duke Leopold II, forcing him to escape from the city voluntary and Tuscany, which took its flight through the Via di Porta San Gallo, which had already upheld his ancestors. A plaque placed on the inside dated 11 November 1916 and dedicated to King Vittorio Emanuele III highlights the power assumed by the people as a result of the unification of Italy, as opposed to the dictatorial power of the ‘ancient regime that the arch would be. The Grand accused of “cloudy” tyranny of the monarch, however, were direct ancestors of Savoy. With the creation of avenues of ring road between 1865 and 1871, the arch he found himself at the center of an island surrounded by pedestrian streets and a system of arcades that are among the most accomplished works of the architect Giuseppe Poggi, supervisor of the development plan.
In the small pedestrian park, it also contained the ancient Porta San Gallo, part of the ancient walls, in front of which was built a circular fountain that separates the Arc de Triomphe.

In Pieve di Sorano, Piazza Scorcetoli Gigliana and Campanile. In the territory of historical Lunigiana have been found in many prehistoric stone monuments, created over a long period of time, from the third millennium BC to the sixth century BC Most probably, the number of stone statues found is very small compared to those still buried in the woods or walled in old houses. The group found in Lunigiana stelae can be considered the most consistent and significant across Europe. The locations of the discoveries affecting mainly the meeting point of the river Magra and Aulella Taverone, the area of forest of thread, the area of Sorano Filattiera and Lunigiana East. The statues represent men, always with a dagger, a symbol of masculine power, or women with their highly stylized strokes. Their meaning will remain obscure. Perhaps representing gods and goddesses as the Mother Goddess or portray heroes of the time.
The first statue stele was discovered in 1867 in Zignago, in the province of La Spezia. In 1886 two small rectangular stele were found twelve meters below sea level in the Gulf of Spezia, but unfortunately have been lost. The last stone statues found date back to 2005 in the town of Mulazzo. The stone statues can be divided into three main groups, according to the evolution of techniques and styles of the sculptures. Group A is the oldest, the B corresponde to an interim period and C is the latest.

In località Sorano.

Inside the church was the Leodgar’s tombstone, now in the church of San Giorgio always Filattiera, possibly a bishop or a steward Lombard died in 752, a proponent of the Christianization of the Lunigiana and the destruction of many stone idols, as stated the plaque itself. The church is referred to indirectly, for the first time since Sigerico, Archbishop of Canterbury, on his way to Rome at the end of the tenth century. Isolated from the twelfth-thirteenth century when the river Magra and unhealthy due to the dangers of the passage of armies, the population moved in the current village, however, was in charge of a vast diocese testifies as an estimate of the fifteenth century, I recorded the possessions of a Malgrate Mulazzo, Fillet, Rocca Sigillina, Filattiera and more. The site was finally abandoned in 1700. The church maintained its religious functions until the mid-90s of the twentieth century, when the negligence causes the collapse of the roof. In view of the Jubilee of 2000 was completely renovated. The plant has three naves divided by columns with circular capitals just monolithic blanks. The central apse is flanked by two smaller, added at later dates. The square bell tower, squat betrays a defensive end more than religious. The construction material confirms the poor source rocks of the river Magra assembled together. The church is always open to the public.
