Del XII secolo. Del castello, a pianta trapezoidale, non restano grandi tracce della sua costruzione originaria in quanto gravemente danneggiato durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Il torrione è stato ricostruito. Restano parte delle mura con basamento a scarpa e una seconda torre, quadrata e oggi scapitozzata, sul margine della piazza centrale del paese. Il complesso è privato, di proprietà di una banca.

In località Petroio.
Di origine etrusca dal nome Petruni (o dal latino Praetorium ?) viene chiamata “Castro Pretorio” come risulta dai documenti dell’Archivio Capitolare di Arezzo e dell’Archivio di Stato di Siena o “Pretorio” da una bolla concistoriale degli del 1180 che riunisce in una unica parrocchia la chiesa di S.Pietro in Pretorio e la pieve di S.Andrea di Abbadia Sicille. Petroio.
Possedimento dei Conti Scialenga nel XII secolo ma sempre sotto l’influenza del Comune di Siena tanto che nel 1271 un Magistrato Giurisdicente di Siena esercitava le funzioni di Vicario, nel Palazzo Pretorio, con facoltà di espellere i personaggi non graditi.
Divenuto feudo dei Salimbeni alla fine del XIV secolo, quindi dei Piccolomini Bandini, per tornare alla Repubblica di Siena fino al 1555 ed essere definitivamente annesso al Granducato di Toscana nel 1559.
Intatto borgo medioevale e castello con torre civica e torre del Cassero del XII secolo, conserva alcune torri delle mura trecentesche, l’antico Palazzo Pretorio e sei edifici sacri.

Si pensa che sia stata edificata dai Cavalieri Templari a seguito della Croce di Malta che si trova scolpita nella facciata.
Costruita nel 1263, ha la facciata a bugne regolari di pietra con il portale architravato sormontato da un arco acuto. I salienti del tetto a capanna sono decorati da cornici dentellate a mattoni; il campanile a vela è settecentesco.
Sull’architrave è un’iscrizione racchiusa da due Croci di Malta – l’antico simbolo dei Templari -, mentre l’occhio è sormontato dallo stemma olivetano perché dopo la soppressione dell’ordine cavalleresco la Badia passò ai Monaci Olivetani
Nell’interno, ad aula unica rettangolare con tetto a capriate lignee, si trovano due affreschi quattrocenteschi rappresentanti la “Madonna col Bambino e i Santi Pietro e Paolo e San Girolamo in trono e i Santi Sebastiano e Benedetto

L’edificio, di impostazione romanica, ha la facciata in mattoni e gli spioventi del tetto a capanna decorati da mensolette; il portale architravato è incorniciato dalla strombatura a colonnette sormontate da archi a tutto sesto; sulla destra si eleva il campanile a torre, anch’esso in laterizio.
Nell’interno ad un’unica navata si conservano una teca con una lunetta marmorea con il Sangue del Redentore (il bassorilievo è attribuito a Donatello, la Crocifissione attribuita a Michele di Matteo, la Madonna col Bambino in trono e i Santi Andrea e Giovanni di Benvenuto di Giovanni, l’ Annunciazione di Francesco Vanni, la Madonna col Bambino, angeli e santi della bottega del Sodoma.

L’edificio sacro, il più grande di Torrita, fu costruito nel 1631, e vi fu trasferito il titolo della pieve di San Costanzo. Divenne collegiata nel 1648 e nel 1789 venne ampliato.
La semplice facciata ad intonaco ha il portale architravato preceduto da una scalea. Al termine del lato destro si eleva il campanile a torre in mattoni. Il suo sviluppo è movimentato da paraste e da cornici aggettanti che lo dividono in più registri.
Nell’interno ad un’unica navata si segnalano una terracotta policroma cinquecentesca con “Santa Caterina da Siena”, l’ampio coro in noce realizzato nel 1740, l’organo ottocentesco dei fratelli Agati di Pistoia.

Ricordata a partire dall’anno 1109, fu una delle più antiche chiese della diocesi volterrana. Situata nel limite sud del comune di Terricciola, la Pieve a Pitti deve il nome alla pieve di San Giovanni di Pava, sorta sulle rovine di una antica chiesa etrusca e alla famiglia fiorentina dei Pitti, proprietaria, fino alla fine del XVII secolo di tutta la tenuta.

Fu fondata nel 1089 dal conte Ugo della Gherardesca. Soppressa nel 1482, fu residenza dei vescovi di Volterra. La chiesa attuale fu costruita attorno al 1152, quando si decise di trasferire l’antico monastero.
