In località Pontignano.
In places Pontignano. It was founded in 1343 by BIND Petroni Falcone, nephew of Cardinal Riccardo Petroni that Tino Camaino immortalized with his tomb in the Cathedral of Siena. The Carthusian monks living in a prison nearly complete: each brother had a small apartment with a backyard and the door a crack through which to receive the daily meal prepared by the lay brothers. The community gathered together for one meal on Sundays and public holidays. He spoke only in a room that used half an hour a week. During the wars between Florence and Siena, in spite of the Certosa was under the protection of the Visconti of Milan, was burned and placed in the bag. Fall of the Republic of Siena, Certosa did not have to suffer even more devastation and was built the great church, consecrated in 1607. In 1810, the Charterhouse was removed, and in 1959 the buildings were purchased by the State two years later I installed a college education. Today it is owned by the University of Siena, who had destined to the hospitality student and scientific and cultural events. The Charterhouse has three cloisters and a church. The first Renaissance cloister with arches, the center has a pretty well. The second-century, brick and smaller, while the third cloister is impressive for its grandeur. Contains fragments of frescoes by Bernardino Poccetti, an artist from the beginning of the seventeenth century as opposed to the Mannerist and who also painted the Last Supper with the Refectory. From the first cloister you enter the church, also decorated with frescoes by Francesco Vanni Poccetti and stories that illustrate the Carthusian Order. The wooden stalls are the work of Domenico and stout from the late sixteenth century. Interestingly, in the chapel next door, is the Crucifixion of Francesco Vanni, which is the best exponent of the Counter-Reformation painting in Siena.
Of medieval origin. Dominated by the square of the mold. The walls and towers still remain large tracts that surround the town (although incorporated in several places in the home), the two ports are now sadly no longer ‘exist, and the Florentine’ was destroyed during the Second World War [that we see today is an opening in the track wall posthumously]. The mold, consisting of two blocks square, with its high walls, is in perfect condition, thanks to careful restoration work of the century, today is the common

In località Selvena.
In places Selvena. Cited for the first time in 833 in a document of the abbey of Monte Amiata. The fortress was built by Aldobrandeschi in the thirteenth century, the development of the site of a previous era. For its construction, in 1212 there was even a dispute to the game of Zara (nuts) between family members, so it was decided who would finance the work. This event gave the place the name of Castell’Azzara. The fortification, except for a temporary transfer of ownership to the family of Basque Orvieto at the end of the thirteenth century, was a possession Aldobrandeschi almost uninterrupted until 1439, when it was inherited by the Sforza family, along with the entire county of Santa Fiora, following the marriage between Cecilia and Aldobrandeschi Bosio Sforza. In the seventeenth century, the fall of the county policy Sforza and the subsequent annexation of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany Castell’Azzara led to the sale of the rock in private, then the suddivisero in housing units.
