The interior has three naves, the presbytery, domed, introduced by a triumphal arch resting on fluted pilasters and Corinthian capitals. Ecstasy is placed on the high altar of St. Philip Blacks (1640) Matteo Rosselli, who also designed the eternal face in the round of the broken pediment of the same altar.
Of particular value urban ‘Land nuovo’ designed by Arnolfo di Cambio. The cliffs and gullies of the Valdarno, between Florence and Arezzo attracted the scientific attention of Leonardo da Vinci, who used them as background in a number of paintings and drawings. Particularly fascinating flounces zolfini Water, not far from the scenic Seven Bridges from which, at the provincial Botriolo, you can see the medieval tower of Castelfranco surrounded by gullies.Like other “new lands”, Castelfranco di Sopra has an urban plan that follows the Roman fortress, with orthogonal streets and central square overlooked by the buildings of power: the palace of the mayor and the church of San Pietro, today disappeared. The lots have multiple measures of Florence and arm as you move away from the center, the buildings have heights less than the width of streets and degrading. A draw would have been the city, according to Vasari, the famous architect Arnolfo di Cambio, and is seen as the Florentine imprint is still visible, not only in its urban but also in some homes in the first section of the Via Maestra, from the period of foundation of the new earth and completely similar to the line of houses in the historic center of Florence.
